Dnevne Nezavisne Novine d.o.o. was founded in 1997 by Željko Kopanja, Anton Kasipović and Nataša Kopanja. It is a private media company owned in its entirety by the Kopanja family. The company publishes the daily Nezavisne Novine newspaper and it is the largest shareholder of the online and print media outlet Glas Srpske.

Željko Kopanja was born in Kotor Varoš, earned a degree in Economics before beginning his journalistic career with the Banja Luka outlet Glas, which is now known as Glas Srpske. Immediately after the war, he established ‘Nezavisne novine’. On October 22, 1999, he survived an assassination attempt, when an explosive was placed underneath his car, resulting in the loss of both his legs. He passed away in 2016.
